Sri Lanka bowler Muttiah Muralitharan says winning the World Cup final against Australia would surpass everything else he has achieved in cricket.
The spin ace has taken over 1,000 wickets during his illustrious international career and helped his country win the World Cup back in 1996.
But Muralitharan has revealed that a victory in Saturday's showpiece at the Kensington Oval would eclipse all of his previous achievements.
The Lancashire star revealed: "This could be the biggest moment in my life. In 1996, I was very young and didn't know much.
"Now I know about what it takes to win a World Cup. This must be my last World Cup and if we can win it will be the greatest moment in my life - more than my individual records."
Muralitharan believes victory for Sri Lanka will be the catalyst for the new generation of stars to come through into the international scene.
He added: "Team success is the most important thing and it's good for youngsters who follow cricket in Sri Lanka.
"We will have great players in the future because watching us and doing same thing we do helps all the country."
Finishing the tournament as the top wicket taker would be the cherry on top of the cake for the spinner, with Muralitharan currently two wickets behind Glenn McGrath in the standings.
The Sri Lanka star is trading at 5.6 on Betfair to head the wicket taking charts, with McGrath the 1.36 favourite.
