Warwickshire's luckless vice-captain, Ashley Giles, will miss the start of the new domestic season after suffering a recurrence of his hip problem.
Giles underwent two operations to cure hip and groin problems during an injury-plagued 2006 and a flare up of the injury means he will fly to Colorado in America on Tuesday to see a specialist.
"I've obviously had some pain in the hip," Giles told the BBC. "As he was the guy who operated on me last time, I've got lots of faith in him.
"Hopefully, he can shed some light on what is going on."
Giles was hoping an impressive start to the domestic campaign would boost his chances of a return to the England squad for the first Test against West Indies which starts on 17 May.
But his chances nosedived when the problem reared its head on Warwickshire's pre-season tour of the Caribbean.
Warwickshire begin their County Championship campaign against Lancashire at Edgbaston on Wednesday.
The Bears are trading at 15 in a developing market to win Division One, with defending champions Sussex available at 4.5. Lancashire lead the market at 3.4, while Hampshire are on offer at 4.1.
