Far from being downhearted at his side's failure to claim a victory which would have edged them further away from the Premiership's relegation zone, Pardew was more than satisfied with the Addicks' performance and believes their destiny is still in their own hands.

Fellow strugglers Sheffield United still have to come to The Valley later this month, and Pardew said: "We are still in there and there is another point on the board."

He added: "We have had a great run at home. We are not going to have it all our own way and if we were going to draw one game, then I would rather it was this one than the two which are left.

"From where we have been, we should be thankful for that and we move on to the next game.

"If we can raise our intensity like we had to at times against Reading, then there is no reason why we cannot go unbeaten between now and the end."

Pardew has led a renaissance since arriving in south-east London on Boxing Day, losing just five of the 15 games he has presided over.

The Addicks have edged a point clear of the relegation zone but can still be backed at 1.81 to go down from the top flight, with Watford the overwhelming 1.01 favourites to exit the Premiership.

West Ham are trading at 1.46, while struggling Sheffield United, who have dropped into the bottom three following Charlton's resurgence, can be backed at 1.88 to be relegated.
