Betfair punters who are already considering the next domestic season will certainly have been alerted to the fact that Hampshire could potentially have the two leading bowlers from the Ashes series at their disposal.
Although the new season is still a fair way off, when the markets for the domestic campaign open, Hamshire could be a warm order especially should they secure the services of Australian seamer Stuart Clark, who says he is interested in joining the club.
Clark was omitted form Australia's World Cup squad this week despite finishing as the leading wicket-taker with 26 victims in the host's Ashes demolition of England this winter.
Speaking to The Age, he said: "The chance to play with Warney again would be fantastic. There has been talk about an opportunity at Hampshire. We might look to reopen those talks."
The 31-year-old spent a season at Middlesex in 2005 and he maintains that any potential deal over a possible move to Hampshire remains "in his manager's hands".
Hants skipper, Warne, has now retired from international cricket but has always said that he would continue playing for the remainder of his county contract, which has two years left to run.
