Adams admits to Sussex failings

72878590.jpgBetfair traders have shown they are concerned by the form of defending county champions Sussex, following back-to-back innings' defeats.

Sussex were beaten heavily at Kent, losing by an innings and 106 runs to leave them with a record of one win and two defeats from their opening three matches.

Having started the season among the favourites, betting confidence in the 2006 champions appears to have waned. Shane Warne's Hampshire, on offer at 2.96, are the current favourites for the title.

Speaking about their recent disappointments, skipper Chris Adams admitted: "Conditions were favourable for seam bowling but there are no excuses.

"We batted extremely poorly and I don't think in the last two Championship games we've applied ourselves in two similar situations.
"It's been the 3rd or 4th seamer who has been our undoing. On our travels this year we are going to find a similar story with these pitches and types of bowling.
Sussex's next game is against Surrey at Hove, which gets underway on Wednesday May 16.
