Geoffrey Boycott has revealed that England skipper Michael Vaughan approached him in the winter to request some advice over his batting.
Vaughan has struggled with the bat since his return to side following a long-term injury, joining up with the squad in Australia for the Commonwealth Bank series.
Yorkshire and England legend Boycott claims Vaughan was keen to do some extra batting practice with him, but was worried that the former management team would find out.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Boycott said: "This winter I had a captain of England requesting to have dinner with me to get my help on his batting but he said he must not be seen with me. He said it must be, I quote: 'Under the radar'.
"Because I have been critical of the coach, Michael Vaughan is now frightened to have dinner with me. What a farcical situation is that? That cannot be good for the team."
Vaughan has disappointed again at the World Cup, with his highest score of 45 coming against Canada.
The skipper will have one final chance to recapture his form before leaving the Caribbean, when England face West Indies on Saturday.
The home side are favourites to win the final game of the Super 8 stage, with Brian Lara's men trading at 1.81 and England are on offer at 2.2.
