Shahid Afridi leads his side to glory with a wicket and an unbeaten 54 with the bat in the fianl against Sri Lanka.
Pakistan were matched at a high of [38.0] on Betfair to win the T20 World Cup whilst staring down the barrel of a gun during the Group Stages of the tournament, having lost their opening match against England. From that stage onwards they needed to win virtually every remaining match and even though they got way with losing to Sri Lanka in the Super Eight stage, they came good when it mattered, beating South Africa in the semis and the same Sri Lanka side in the final.
It was fitting that the man that Nasser Hussain refers to as their "gun player" - "Boom Boom" Shahid Afridi - followed up his man of the match performance in the semis with another all-round master class and was at the crease as they scored the winning run in an unbeaten half-century.
Another of their star performers, death bowler Umar Gul, walked away with top bowler of the tournament honours having been matched at odds of [50.0].
Sri Lanka, who never really recovered from the first over loss of their own "gun player", Tillakaratne Dilshan, were matched at a low of 1.76 having gone into the final as favourites.
