Chris Gayle is determined to help the West Indies regain their pride in the upcoming Twenty20 and one-day international matches.

The new one-day skipper under-performed in the Test arena, scoring only one half-century at the top of the order, as the Windies slumped to a 3-0 defeat in the four-match series.

Gayle has split the selection panel over his appointment as captain and the opener criticised the disorganisation of the West Indies Cricket Board.

However, he is intent on restoring the nation's pride and reveals he wants to stamp his own authority on England's bowlers.

The 27-year-old said: "It is case of the team regaining their pride after the Test series. There is a lot of pride to gain - we're going to take nothing for granted.

"It hasn't been the best summer for me as an individual, not scoring any runs at all and as a senior player as well so I have to put that right and grasp the opportunity to stay in the middle a bit longer."

Gayle added: "If I can lead from the front it will be much easier for the rest of the guys.

"I'm in the right frame of mind. I have been in tougher situations than this before and I have dug myself out of it and I am just looking forward to contributing to the team."

Betfair punters don't appear to have much confidence in Gayle and co, with the tourists trading at 5.6 to win the two-match Twenty20 series. England are available to back at 1.81 while the draw is on offer at 2.68.
