With the best form, best profile and best draw, there looks to be no stopping the front-running juggernaut that is Zensational.
With the best form, best profile and best draw, there looks to be no stopping the front-running juggernaut that is Zensational. Tried-and-tested Fatal Bullet could well repeat last year's achievement of the runner-up spot.
Zensational: Absolutely flying through the season, winning 5 of 6 starts including a hat-trick of Grade 1s, and getting better all the time. Enthusiastic front runner, so ideally berthed in 1, and hard to see anything pegging him back.
Cost Of Freedom: Among the favourites for this race 12 months ago but pulled out on vet's advice and subsequently off a year. Has been off his game both starts back and big revival needed.
Fatal Bullet: Canadian horse of the year in 2008, runner-up in this contest, and has continued the good work this season, winning 2 of 3 starts. Nicely drawn for a prominent racer but wouldn't want to take on Zensational.
Crown Of Thorns: Catalogue of problems has restricted him to just 5 lifetime starts but as good as ever latest start when second to Gayego, though withough suggesting he can reverse that form.
Gayego : Taken his form to a new level this year, starting in Dubai and continuing back in the US, storming home from the rear (hampered start) to win a Grade 1 over course/distance last month. Still unexposed as a sprinter, making him a danger to Zensational.
Dancing In Silks: Going the right way, arriving here on the back of a hat-trick, but they were non-graded events and he has plenty to find in this top company.
Join In The Dance : No win this year, usually races over further, and disappointing when last seen, so not much hope on the face of it.
Capt. Candyman Can: Outside draw no harm, as coming late suits him, and likely to get the strong pace he needs, but any of this year's 4 wins not good enough on form for this and held by Fatal Bullet from latest start at Keeneland.
Fleeting Spirit: Moral champion sprinter of Europe, as sole win in July Cup doesn't do her justice, and, with the fillies allowance, she's second only to Zensational on ratings, just 1 lb behind him. However, widest draw and pro-ride inexperience are obvious negatives.
