Four players are locked in heady semi-final contests at the Crucible so is Alex Lee sticking to his guns or has he identified any new betting angles?

As the Ding/Trump semi-final reaches its conclusion, I can't help feeling that Ding is due the rub of the green. While Trump deservedly took Friday's evening session to level the match at 12-12, prior to that he was the beneficiary of some of the most outrageous flukes ever seen at this level of snooker. The old adage of what goes around, comes around will surely apply in the final session of the match which has effectively become a best-of-nine shoot-out.

While the shorter format favours Trump's explosive style, Ding is due a whole loaf of luck. The recommendation is to side with Ding as he'll surely benefit from a lucky cannon here and a fortunate snick there. He'll have to play his best snooker, of course, but this comes as a given from one of the game's most dedicated players.

Meanwhile, Higgins and Williams are playing out a Crucible classic and whoever wins this will, in my view, go on to take the title regardless of who prevails in the other semi. Higgins currently holds a just-about-deserved 13-11 lead, but there'll be more twists and turns than an X-Factor dance routine before this one is over.

Bet-wise, I'm sticking to my guns about exactly one maximum break to be made before the tournament reaches its thrilling conclusion on Monday evening. At the time of writing, odds of [5.0] or better were still available.
