Mark Williams is more than capable of still registering a maximum before the tournament is up

"Whoever the Welshman ends up facing, expect another high-scoring contest, so the recommendation here is to back exactly one maximum break to be scored in tournament @ 5.0 or better, depending on liquidity."

Judd Trump and Mark Williams are through to the semis and it is the former in particular who has his work cut out in the next round. Meanwhile, with some serious heavy scoring coming up, it could pay to side with a 147 to still be struck.

Congratulations go to Mark Williams and Judd Trump who become the first semi-finalists in this season's World Snooker Championship. With the best of 33 frame semis looming, can Judd Trump possibly go all the way with his exciting, gung-ho brand of snooker?
No.
While Trump's progress, and the exhilarating way in which he's made it to the semis, is worthy of high praise, I believe he'll hit the wall when he plays the winner of the Ding/Selby quarter final on Thursday. Both Ding and Selby have a better all-round game and while Trump closed out a fine China Open by beating Selby in the final, it was only best of nineteen. The Crucible semis are a marathon compared to the China Open's sprint and there's nowhere to hide in long-haul snooker fixtures. If Selby somehow squeezes past Ding, which I doubt, he'll be hell-bent on revenge.

Ding, meanwhile, is a different character to the little boy that almost walked out en route to losing 10-3 to O'Sullivan in the 2007 Masters final, and if he faces Trump we'll see just how much he has matured as a player and as a person since then. Expect plenty of century breaks to be made in this match.

The other semi-final will see Mark Williams face the winner of the O'Sullivan/Higgins match in what will be a classic southpaw versus right-hander contest. Whoever the Welshman ends up facing, expect another high-scoring contest, so the recommendation here is to back exactly one maximum break to be scored in tournament @ [5.0] or better, depending on liquidity. With a potential 101 frames to be played in the semis and final, this looks a fine value punt.

Recommended Bets:

Back Trump's opponent in the semi-final
Back exactly one maximum break to be scored in tournament @ [5.0] or better
