'Captain' Carter huge outsider for clash with O'Sullivan
Ali Carter has set up a David v Goliath battle for the 888.com Snooker World Championship after downing Joe Perry 17-15 at the Crucible on Saturday night.
Carter will meet ultra-hot favourite Ronnie O'Sullivan in the final.
If the odds tell the true story it should be all over before the final session. The Rocket trades at [1.16] to win with his opponent [6.8] on the exchange.
Carter will have to put a nervewracking semi behind him if he is to stand any chance of overcoming Ronnie in the final.
In a rollercoaster match, Carter traded at high of [4.5] to win with his opponent Joe Perry touching both [5.8] and [1.3] before last night's final session.
And during a dramatic last few frames it seemed neither man wanted to win...
* Carter traded at [1.15] when 16-15 up, and 32-0 in front in the 32nd frame
* Perry went in-off when leading 42-32
* Carter trades at [1.12] when Perry leaves him with a very potable red which could have seen him go on to win the match had he sunk it. He didn't.
* Carter gets another chance and holds his nerve to win 16-14
Carter has been backed at a high of [220.0] to win the tournament on Betfair .
