"If you’re solely interested in backing players on the match odds market, however, I’d recommend looking at a double on Williams and Selby, which will pay out at around [1.6]."

Wednesday's Ali Carter-Mark Allen and Martin Gould-Shaun Murphy clashes should be closely fought and going long on frames will be Alex Lee's path to potential profit

Four closely-matched fixtures are scheduled for today's UK Snooker Championship in York, and with each game throwing up a clear favourite there are some excellent opportunities for Betfair users wishing to take advantage of the handicap markets.

Apart from Mark Williams-Ricky Walden match, where the highly-ranked Welshman should progress, I'd expect none of these games to finish with more than two frames separating each pair, so there are plenty of ways to approach them from a betting point of view. In addition to taking each outsider on the available handicaps, the total frames market and the correct score markets are all worthy of a consideration.

Depending on the best odds you can get, you could take each outsider on the +1.5 frames handicap market, back over 9.5 frames or Dutch 6-4, 6-5, 4-6, 5-6 as a potentially lucrative staking strategy when liquidity permits.

Of the four games, I'd certainly price the Martin Gould-Shaun Murphy game closer than it is at present, while only the tiniest fleck of chalk dust separates Mark Allen and Ali Carter.

If you're solely interested in backing players on the match odds market, however, I'd recommend looking at a double on Williams and Selby, which will pay out at around [1.6].

Recommended Bets
Back over 9.5 frames in Allen v Carter @ [2.0] or better
Back over 9.5 frames in Gould v Murphy @ [2.0] or better
Back Carter +1.5 @ [1.85] or better
