Mark Allen knows how to build a break
" I truly believe that the Over 1.5 Century Breaks markets are ripe for exploitation."
Four top-quality break builders are left in the competition and the only option for Alex Lee is to back plenty of century breaks
The quick fire best-of-11 frames format chosen for the early rounds of the UK Snooker Championship has seen the tournament whizz by and we're at the semi-final stage already. Left in are four of snooker's best break-builders with Judd Trump facing Neil Robertson and Ricky Walden coming up against Mark Allen. Make no mistake, the longer best-of-17 format will rule out any element of luck and separate the chalkers from the chokers.
Walden enters the semi-final stage with arguably the most momentum as he hit his first competitive 147 this month in the PTC at Sheffield, while in the other semi flavour of the month Judd Trump has to be favoured over Robertson, despite the Australian already holding one World Title.
The market I'll be investigating in both matches, however, will be that of the Over 1.5 Century Breaks as all four players are perfectly capable of compiling tons at this level of competition. This takes out any worry about who to back or lay or what dutching policy to follow as both games are tough to call. As it happens, I'll personally be backing Trump and Walden, but in terms of putting forward recommendations I truly believe that the Over 1.5 Century Breaks markets are ripe for exploitation.
