"The boy from Bristol is more than capable of applying some snooker science to The Rocket... "
Alex Lee can't wait for what could be the highlight of the Masters on Thursday as The Rocket takes on the Lionel Messi of snooker (don't you think they look alike?)...
There's just the one fixture on Thursday in the Masters Snooker at Ally Pally, but despite it being only the second round this could easily be the match of the tournament. One of the greatest snooker players ever in Ronnie O'Sullivan takes on the most exciting player currently on the circuit in Judd Trump.
O'Sullivan despatched reigning Masters champion Ding Junhui efficiently in the first round, while Trump did a similar demolition job on Stuart Bingham. Trump admitted afterwards that he would have to up his game in order to beat O'Sullivan, but the boy from Bristol is more than capable of applying some snooker science to The Rocket as we've already seen Trump triumph over O'Sullivan in last year's UK Championship. That match was at a similar stage of the tournament as this one and played over the same number of frames - best of 11 - and there's no reason why Trump can't repeat his 6-5 victory today.
O'Sullivan looked relaxed and content in his post-match interview, taking his son Ronnie Jr with him into the studio, and will no doubt play the game with freedom and flair throughout. Trump, however, was far from pleased with his round one form and will use O'Sullivan as the inspiration to hit the same heights as he did in winning the 2011 UK Championship.
In a match that promises to have everything, expect to see at least two century breaks, at least ten frames played and, ultimately, a narrow win for Judd Trump.
