Casey Stoner's second crash in two races has handed Valentino Rossi an effectively unassailable lead in this year's title chase, writes Trent Burton.
Rossi took the win to equal Giacomo Agostini's world record of 68 wins in the premier class and thus takes his championship lead over Stoner to 75 points with 5 races to go.
A fourth from Dani Pedrosa moved him just 2 points behind Stoner in the battle for second in the title.
The race was a return to form for a number of riders with Jorge Lorenzo back on the podium and Brit James Toseland coming home sixth. Britain's Bradley Smith also come home second in the 125cc race.
Rossi is now into [1.02] and Stoner out to a massive [28.0] for the title so the interest for the remainder of the year will be in the individual races and whether the rest of the pack can spoil the party for Valentino.
