Australian driver leads the championship after excellent ride lands him win in British MotoGP...
"Poetry in motion," was how one race commentator described Casey Stoner's victory in the British MotoGP at rain-soaked Silverstone on Sunday.
The Australian, who started in pole and traded no higher than [2.5] for victory, is [1.33] to win the MotoGP title after overtaking Jorge Lorenzo at the top of the championship table.
In dreadful conditions, Lorenzo was one of three riders to crash out of the race. However, Stoner, who Betting.Betfair MotoGP tipster Trent Burton tipped for victory, got a grip on the wet track and looked untroubled for most of the race.
The Australian won the race emphatically, by over 15 seconds, from second-placed Andrea Dovizioso but huge credit must go to Colin Edwards who put in a brilliant ride to finish third, only one week after suffering a broken collarbone.
The day belonged to Stoner though as he displayed maturity and considerable skill to claim his third victory of the season. He now leads the title race by 18 points from Lorenzo [5.2].
