Betfair Markets react to the news that F1 stewards have stripped Lewis Hamilton of the points he won in Melbourne.
Lewis Hamilton's price for a second successive Drivers Championship title has drifted out to [8.6] after F1's governing body announced that they are stripping the British driver and his team of all the points they gained at the Australian Grand Prix.
Hamilton had been trading at around [7.0] after an assured drive landed him third place in Melbourne last Sunday. He had ended the race in fourth before being promoted to the podium after stewards penalised Jarno Trulli following a post-race hearing which ruled that he had over-taken Hamilton while the safety car was out. Trulli was demoted to 12th place and handed a 25 point penalty.
However, the Italian has now been reinstated to third, after new evidence emerged which is said to centre around pit-to-car radio conversations which contravene the international sporting code.
Hamilton has been found guilty of "providing evidence deliberately misleading to the stewards at the hearing on 29 March."
McClaren say that they will not appeal the decision.
Jenson Button remains favourite to win the Drivers Championship as well as this weekend's Malaysian GP. He can be backed at [4.2] and [2.92] respectively while Lewis Hamilton is [16.0] to triumph in Kuala Lumpur.
