Joe Calzaghe v Mikkel Kessler boxing betting and odds

Joe Calzaghe puts his unbeaten 43-fight career on the line against Danish star Mikkel Kessler on November 3.

A bet on the Welshman has rewarded punters in each of his professional fights to date at varying odds and betting customers should note he is regarded as one of the best British fighters of all time.

However a bet on Kessler has also paid out in all of his 39 professional fights and there will be a lot at stake in Cardiff and plenty of betting opportunities in early November.

The bout will be for Calzaghe's WBO Super Middleweight title and Kessler's WBA and WBC titles and it appears odds-on that defeat for the Welshman could signal the end of his career.

But it is a safe bet that losing will not be on the veteran's mind as he will have huge support behind him at the Millennium Stadium and betting on a home success will be as popular as ever.

Calzaghe has admitted that his clash with the Scandinavian could be one of the toughest fights of his career and his odds will reflect that, but he is, as ever, confident of victory and is not contemplating the thought of losing his proud record.

The southpaw's latest success was a three-round stoppage of American Peter Manfredo at short odds, with many who bet on the fight believing the fight was stopped prematurely.

But those betting on a quick knock-out should note that 50 per cent of his most recent bouts have gone the distance, with five of his last 10 fights lasting the full 12 rounds, while Kessler has ended 29 of his scraps prematurely.

But the Cwmbran-born scrapper has notched up 32 wins inside the distance and a bet on him to add to that tally against the Scandinavian could be a shrewd investment at decent odds.

Kessler's last outing was a unanimous points victory over Mexican Librado Andrade on March 24 and there will be plenty betting on a Danish victory to upset the odds.
