King and Taylor reignite their age old rivalry in tonight’s Premier League of Darts action.

"Phil Taylor maintains a 100% record whilst Mervyn King has just one blot on his copybook after he came unstuck against an on fire ‘Rocket’ in week three. He has since returned to winning ways with a good victory over Terry Jenkins and now meets his old foe head on in a battle for top spot."

Jaymes Monte believes he has found a bet to take advantage of a recurring chink in Phil Taylor's armour...

Although I doubt that the outcome of tonight's game will have much effect on whether or not either player makes it to finals day, there's genuine reason to get excited about this match-up between the league's top two players. That is because it is the first game of this year's Premier League in which both players have legitimate claims of being near top form ahead of the meeting.

Phil Taylor maintains a 100% record in the league whilst Mervyn King has just one blot on his copybook after he came unstuck against an on-fire 'Rocket' in week three. He has since returned to winning ways with a good victory over Terry Jenkins last week and now meets his old foe head on in a battle for top spot.

Taylor has shown one consistent flaw in his game on three of the last four Thursday evenings. In week one, Simon Whitlock had opportunities to steal a march on 'The Power' in the first four legs but failed to do so, in week two Ronnie Baxter did seize the initiative and raced into a 4-0 lead before imploding but in week three he showed his class by winning the first three legs without James Wade being allowed a dart at a double. That display appeared to dismiss weeks one and two as an anomaly but then again in week four Taylor posted a somewhat unfathomable average in the mid-80s throughout the very early stages of his match against Raymond van Barneveld.

There are two ways to approach this in the betting this week. The first would be to lay Taylor @ [1.35] in the match odds market with a view to backing him at a higher price if he again goes behind in the early stages. Or, Back King in the race to three legs market at [3.3]. If you decide to opt for the latter then I would still keep an eye on the market in-play and at least take your stake back if King races into a 2-0 lead. Those who backed the Dutchman in the same market last week will have been cursing at their television screens as he lost eight legs on the bounce after winning the first two.

Recommended Bets:
Back King in the race to 3 legs @ [3.3]
Lay Taylor @ [1.35] with a view to trade early on.
