"Taylor isn’t the sort to take his foot off the gas at any stage in a major tournament, he knows the type of message he could send out to his competitors by making it a hat-trick of whitewashes."
Jaymes Monte believes that Phil could strike a hatr-trick of whitewashes...
Vincent van der Voort went down in history yesterday as only the second man to be beaten by a female in a televised event, and the first in the Grand Slam of Darts. A small crumb of comfort for the Dutchman is that he certainly won't be the last.
It was also a defeat which made qualification from Group A an impossibility. So who would you like to play next in a dead rubber match in order to restore some pride? No, I didn't think many of you would suggest the 14 times World Champion Phil Taylor.
Taylor has been his typical merciless self this week. Two 5-0 whitewashes already with identical 105.85 averages in each match mean he has already qualified for the last 16. But Taylor isn't the sort to take his foot off the gas at any stage in a major tournament, he knows the type of message he could send out to his competitors by making it a hat-trick of whitewashes and he will be fully focussed on doing so.
5-0 available at [3.25] and 5-1 also at [3.25] (as a safety net) are my selections for this evening's action.
Selection: Back Taylor to beat Van der Voort 5-0 @ [3.4] and 5-1 @ [3.4]
