Ted Hankey could be in for more shocks today

"Part of televised darts is about having your mind focussed on the game and Hankey’s head is gone, so for that reason I am going to take a chance on Mardle at [1.75]."

Jaymes Monte believes that Ted Hankey is in for more heckling on day three as he takes on a crowd favourite. And this time it could cost him the match...

The story of yesterday's afternoon session was an odious outburst from BDO World Champion and number two seed Ted Hankey. His reputation as the pantomime villain meant that he was always going to get booed by the crowd; he stated before the match that he was prepared for it and that he wouldn't let it affect his game.

However, as his game deteriorated and the heckling continued, Hankey snapped and began taunting the crowd. After the game his tirade continued, insulting both the fans and the PDC in his post-match interview.

The result is that Hankey has made a rod for his own back. I'm not sure what he expected to gain from his actions but if he thought the booing was bad yesterday, it will be 10 times worse tonight against crowd favourite Wayne Mardle.

Mardle isn't in the greatest of form but he certainly knows how to play the crowd to his advantage. A big part of televised darts is about having your mind focussed on the game and Hankey's head is gone, so for that reason I am going to take a chance on Mardle at [1.75].

Selection: Back Wayne Mardle to beat Ted Hankey @ [1.75]
