Michael is full of praise for Mark Cavendish
Ambassador Vaughan looks far and wide for his picks of the year, praising and disparaging across a range of sports. But what's he betting on in 2012?
Moment of 2011: Darren Clarke winning the Open. He won so easily in the end, I've never watched a Sunday afternoon like it. He'd been in the wilderness for so long, everyone just wanted him to win.
Performance of 2011: Mark Cavendish. What he's achieved in 2011 is quite extraordinary. Cycling isn't a sport that's often recognised, but it should be.
Hero of 2011: Mario Balotelli. He's my new hero, he's just completely bonkers but he has class with it.
Villain of 2011: Carlos Tevez. What a clown. I've got no time for him.
Bet for 2012: I'll say a treble. Man City to win the Premier League, Jessica Ennis to win Olympic gold, and Tiger Woods to win the Open - he loves playing that.
