Nick Tedeschi

Upon discovering Hunter S. Thompson’s The Kentucky Derby is Decadent and Depraved, Nick Tedeschi’s future was decided. He was going to be a sports writer and that was that.

A sports fan from a young age, Nick has followed many of the great pastimes including cricket, horse racing, American football, baseball, basketball and boxing from a young age. His first love, however, has always been rugby league with his blood as blue and white as his beloved Canterbury Bulldogs. From the days of Mortimer and Lamb, Nick has been unwavering in his support of the Belmore boys.

Soon after his discovery of Thompson and subsequently of Bill Simmons, Damon Runyon and David Halberstam, Nick began work for racing newspaper The Winning Post as the Canberra correspondent. Nick then entered the sports-betting game, working for a number of Australian betting shops as racing and elections bookmaker while making an earn punting on the side.

Nick currently writes a column Making the Nut for gambling advice company Punting Ace. He has covered everything from rugby league and cricket to chess and politics in a most distinctive voice.

Prior to entering the gambling and sports writing businesses, Nick studied at the Australian National University and worked as an advisor and speechwriter in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
