The Wooden Spoon has not been living up to his name, much to the delight of his connections, by winning his last two races and attempts a hat-trick at 2.10pm. He is opposed by Gunner Jack, only beaten a head in February by Ballyfitz who then won at the Cheltenham Festival on his next start.

Trainer Nicky Henderson and jockey Tony McCoy are on fire at the moment and can't stop winning. They team up with Au Courant at 12.50pm who himself has won both his starts, though he hasn't run for nearly three years. Last year's winner Deep Reflection bids for a repeat victory in the 1.50pm race.

Chris Catlin - this is his first meeting of the day, before going to Kempton in a bid to keep his AW Champion title.
Notable Horses
Two winners of valuable races in previous years line up at Southwell today - Spectait (3.00pm) won the totesport Mile at Glorious Goodwood in 2006 whilst Ice Planet (1.00pm) was the 2005 Great St Wilfrid Stakes winner at Ripon.
The 12.00pm race was won by Willie Jarvis in 2004 and Michael Jarvis in 2006. Willie attempts to keep the sequence going today with Clerk's Choice.
