The increasingly popular young apprentice of the moment, David Probert.
Notable Horses: The EBF Reference Point Maiden Stakes commemorates one of Henry Cecil's four Derby winners. Fittingly, Henry Cecil has a runner in the race, Alpha Tauri, which holds an entry in next year's Derby. Rival trainer Sir Michael Stoute has won the race on this card four times since 2001, including with this year's King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes 2nd Papal Bull. He tries again with Dancourt in division 1 at 1.40pm and King's Song in division 2 at 2.10pm.
Trainer Mick Channon has won the 3.10pm race for two consecutive years and goes for the treble with Akhenaten.
Dream Day (3.40pm) ran in the French 1,000 Guineas and finished second in a Group 3 race earlier in the season.

Notable Horses: Custody (2.50pm) makes the long journey from trainer Sir Michael Stoute's Newmarket yard. He has only run 7 horses at Newcastle in the last 5 years, but 3 of them won, including when taking this race two years ago with the same jockey, Robert Winston, riding.
