EPT Dublin Final Table - Annette_15
So as most of u know, I ended up getting 2nd in the EPT for a very nice payday. I started FT as the CL with 800k to the next guys' 640k. My table position was great, had medium to shorter stacks to my left and the bigger stacks to my right. An old, tight guy with lotta chips in MP that I could steal from and everything was just perfect...
I was playing very aggressive the first two hours and ended up knocking out 3 or 4 players without having lost a hand where I VPIP (Voluntarily put money in the pot) which is insane. So I build my stack up to about 1,5 mill++ without never risking a lotta chips. Got lucky one hand 4 handed where I raised on the button to 30k at 6k-12k with A4. Old nit calls in the bb. He usually got very nervous every time he hit a flop, like started shaking and stuff, so the flop came out 835 with two diamonds and he seemed very calm so I didn't think he hit much of it. I lead for like 45kish and he thinks for a while and raises to 110k, still looking very confident which I know he's not. I think for a while and I go to 250k total just really thinking he's on a move here or on a draw that I'm ahead of. No chance he's shoving here ever the way he's acting. He counts out his chips and throws the money into the pot. NOW I'm a little scared and have to put him on at least top pair of some sort. The turn is a 7 completing the 46 draw if he happened to have that so I happily checked behind to get a free card when he checked. The river was a lovely 2 giving me the gutshot straight without completing the flush draw. He checks and I KNOW I'm good now, so I fire out a value bet of 300k that he quickly calls, I flip my hand and he shows me Q8 for top pair. No good sir, wp, etc.
After that one after one gets knocked out until we're HU. I started with a 5:1 advantage. But after that everything went downhill. I doubled him when I flopped top pair/good kicker against his bottom two pair and I missed my 10 outs on the river. Ooh well. Then I start getting some hands that totally whiffed the flop and had to fold to resistance because he had been playing pretty tight. I then 'misclicked' in one big hand by miscounting my chips and betting 420k instead of 220k which really hurt and gave him the CL. Last hand he raised button to 50k or so, I made it 185k with 7s, Flop T63r. Looked like a very dry, good flop for me, so I lead for 220k which is a pretty weak bet, but I figured I didn't have to protect against much on that board. He counts out the call and then pretends to get ready to raise and instead just shoves all in... I was very confused by that and thought it looked weak. Maybe a hand like 45s, A6s, 44, 55, 6xs or maybe even over cards figuring I prolly didn't hit that flop and have to fold a lot of hands. I take my time and finally call and its all over. He shows AT for top pair top kicker and im drawing to two outs . I pick up a gutshot on the turn but the river is a blank and Rueben is the new EPT champ. So congrats to him, he played well.

Hello Anette and congrats on finishing second (and top 2 twice in a row in big tournament). Well done! I still don't like the way you seem to be arrogant over Mannisen Reijo's game (calling him an old nit). I think he played the whole tournament really well. Too bad you luckboxed over him on the river. Nice suckout, wp girl.

Annette is not remembering the hand with an "old nit" (Finnish poker pro Reijo Manninen) correctly. First of all there was no two diamonds on the flop as the flop was 8s 7h 3d and the turn was no seven but three of clubs. Everyone can check how the hand actually went from Raise TV (the hand is at about one third from the beginning of the video).
In a Finnish poker forum Reijo also wonders how Annette could say that "he was nervous every time he hit the flop". Reijo says that Annette had only one chance to observe how he acted when the flop hit him. All other times he either missed the flop or was all-in preflop.

I am pretty sure she don´t want to disrespect anyone, myself on my blog already have made the same mistake posting a huge pot that I won playing live. I had to hear comments from one of the players who were on that table and saw that post, for more than 1 month...
after all Annette, tournments can be more profitable than cash games :-) GG

Ha ha at you all trying to make Annette seem disrespectful. She is one of the most respectful players in the game. Her name-calling someone an "old nit" is just to illustrate her read on the player's style. If you are all too sensitive to that then find another game.

Hmmm... she does sound very arrogant... calling people names and stuff.. even in the cardplayer interview she attached a harsh term to someone who she thought was not as good player as her. Sorry baby... being a good player is one thing but being a gentleman and a good player is soemthing different. You lost one fan.

Don't bother with the people who whine about you not respecting older people or people who's played longer. The only thing that matters when it comes to respect, the way I see it, is to start out with respect, then they can continue to have it or loose it, what they've done in the past or not is a none-issue IMO. They treat you and others with kindness and respect, they keep it, they don't they loose it, and that's all there is too it.
I loved the pictures of you in the image section :) When I become a photographer, I'd love to have a shoot with you :)

Hi Annette, I was watching you at the FT and really thought you had it sown up after the two all ins with queens when you held aces both times.
Unlucky in the heads up but after the wsope win and now 2nd in Dublin you can afford an odd mistake along the way.
I am Chris the old fat guy who was chatting with Jesse when you were nice enough to give me your autograph during the break before the heads up.

It is NOT the same thing to call someone "a nit" or a "tight player". Just like it's not the same thing to call someone "a ni**er" or "a black person". OK, this is a bit exaggeration, but should prove my point.
Can you not see the difference between expressions "An old nit calls in the bb" and "A tight elderly player calls in the BB"? Which one do you think is more suitable for a public poker blog?
